CULTIVATE PUBLIC ART AND PRESERVATION UNCONVENTIONALLY
Inspire new ideas in preservationists to advance IDEA work and deepen leadership and capacity for artists, organizations and communities. Highlights about out the "Decay Devils", what we individually love to do individually that contribute to our ideas and programming to encourage community by-in for or historic preservation projects, and how we network with other unconventional groups to get a Rustbelt city interested in historic preservation for the first time in 40 years.
In this session you will:
Learn how to get youth engaged in preservation and public art.
Learn how to veer from the traditional paths of arts communicating.
Learn about examples of creative placemaking projects that sit at the intersection of arts and historic preservation and that include networking with non-traditional preservation collaborators such as local graffiti artists and muralists.
Andrea is a photographer, writer, researcher, registered nurse, and one of the founding members of Decay Devils, Inc., dating back to 2015, when the group decided to become an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission to preserve historical landmarks in their hometown and beyond.
